Olivia Adele spent 80 days in the NICU after being born 3.5 months early at 26 weeks 3 days. Olivia had a 10% chance of survival when she was born. If you are a new follower, you can read her birth story here, her first milestones here and see pictures from when Olivia came home here. Some families and babies are not as lucky as us and Olivia. Olivia has no birth defects, is healthy, beautiful and catching up with her age group. Her pedi's say she will be caught up by 18 months!

Today, in honor of Olivia and the millions of babies and families who have been affected Olivia & I are wearing purple.

Every year, 13 million babies are born prematurely worldwide. A million of these babies never get to celebrate their first birthday, and many more face serious, lifelong health challenges. Raising awareness of this problem is the first step to defeating it. To help, join the March of Dimes for Prematurity Awareness Month® this November. The month is an opportunity to draw attention to the problem and the millions of babies and families who are affected. Of particular note: November 17 is World Prematurity Day and when the March of Dimes and our global partners take on the Web and the world to show how widespread premature birth is. Join us on Facebook and Twitter to make this global effort visible.
