OUR Love-Story; Link-Up!

1. How long have you and your significant other been together?
On November 1st we will have been together 8 years!

2. How did you meet? {What's your "love" story?}

SORRY, THIS IS LONG…

Jeremy and I met my first semester as a freshman at Central Michigan University in October 2004. Jeremy was an R.A. in the all boys dorm and I was a resident in the all girls dorm. These dorms were connected by a cafeteria in the middle. When we met it was CMU's Homecoming and they were trying something new that year to "bond" the freshman female dorms. They were having a Powder Puff football game the week of home coming. Although I was not SUPER athletic I decided to do it because I played my junior and senior year of high school and had a lot of fun! I thought it would be great to do because I only knew the girls in my hall and thought it would be fun to get to know other girls in my building.

Jeremy was one of the coaches for my team. Now back in the day I used to be a little petite thing, so when Jer saw me he figured I wasn’t athletic and he BENCHED ME!! Yes, he benched his future wife!! Well, I’m not the type of person to keep my mouth shut when I don’t agree with someone, so I told him off! I let him know that I would be playing and that we would win! Well, Jer was thrown for a loop because no girl had ever told him off so that was when he first started to like this girl! In the end I played and our team won, whoop, whoop! ;) After the game, there were some items left behind and Jeremy had asked me to bring the items back to his room because he had to leave for a meeting. I told him I would but then another girl on the team (who I found out later had a HUGE crush on the man) said she knew where his dorm was and she could save me the trip! I let her, thinking nothing of it. (Later on I had found out Jer had asked ME because he liked me and wanted an excuse to see me!)

After all the girls on my floor got cleaned up we went to the cafeteria for dinner and we saw Jer there with some of his fellow R.A’s. Heflirted with me, and I flirted right back, I told him not to be a stranger and I hoped to see him again.

Well a couple weeks later I guess he was still thinking about me because as I was doing homework in my dorm when I heard a knock on my door and it was Jeremy. He had come by because him and his friends were getting a group together to play basketball and he wanted to know if I wanted to play. Like I said before I’m not the most athletic person but for some reason I just KNEW I needed to go so I agreed. I was ready to leave, wearing jeans and a cute shirt and Jer was like “do you want to change?” (to this day he will never let me live it down! He tells everyone I was in jeans and heels…EXAGGERATION buddy!)

We went to the stadium where the CMU basketball team played and ended up getting kicked out…yea we are rebels! So we went to another gym to play, realized we were both HORRIBLE and just sat in the middle of the court talking and laughing NON STOP. Later on we all went to his room to watch movies and eat pizza and before we knew it, everyone had left, it was just me and him and it was almost 8am! We had stayed up the WHOLE night talking and laughing! On my way to class that morning I told my mom that I met Jeremy and I was IN LOVE! We kissed 3 weeks after that, said I love you shortly after (followed my moms advice and waited for him to tell me first) and have been together ever since that night we stayed up talking! November 1st 2004!

3. If married, how long have you been married?

On June 19th we will be married for 3 years!

4. If you are married, where did you get married at? Big or small wedding?

We were married at Cherry Creek Golf Club outside on the golf course before the sun set. Our reception was also held at this venue. Our wedding was big, 225 people, but we both have said if we did it over again we would have done a small wedding. We spent SO much money on our day and although there are things I wish I could change it was still one of the best days of our lives! :)

5. Do you have any nick-names that you call one another?

Wow! We have SO many!! I call him buddy boy, hubs, babe, baby, sauce (long story, a post for ANOTHER day!), love, lover, honey...

6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey.

(ONLY 3?!) I LOVE the way he loves me and Olivia, that he can always make me laugh, and that he is the hardest working person I know!

7. Tell us how he proposed?

The SHORT version...

(taken from my status the night we got engaged): “Jeremy SURPRISED me for Megan & Jeremy day by taking me on a shopping spree @BCBG (My FAV store!), I had NO idea that he planned for us to go to the SPICE GIRLS concert! (Which I was more excited than ANYTHING because I wanted to go SO SO SO SO bad!) and THENNNNNNNN the BIGGEST most AMAZING surprise is that JEREMY PROPOSED!!! ♥ o2/16/o8=BEST day of my LIIIFE!"

Megan and Jeremy day started when we first started dating and we thought it would be cute to every year have a day, other then our anniversary, to celebrate US! We always would plan something fun together. This time on 02 16, 2008 Jer wanted to plan it! (Should have tipped me off right there!)

As a joke with my college roommates, any time we would go on a date I would always say to them "tonight is the night!" but an engagement never happened. This time when I was going to get my jacket he told my roommates "tonight is the night!" Well once my roommates found out they told ALL of my friends!

We left and headed to go shopping, Jer took me to my fav store, BCBG Max Azria, and bought me anything I wanted. I felt like a princess! Then we started heading towards home (we had lived 2.5 hours from our parents) and choosing a restaurant (which is now closed, bummer!) for dinner. Then after dinner Jer asked if I had wanted to go to a "show." I thought he meant movie so I was like "sure!" But he kept calling it a "show" which I thought was weird. We started heading towards the palace of Aurburn hills (where the Detroit pistons play) but he was taking the backroads so I was confused. Well We did go there, he turned into the parking lot and I figured we were going to see a basketball game. I felt overdressed (I had been in heels and a dress so I changed into leggings and a sweater and flats ( I thought I was going to a BASKETBALL game!) and as we were walking in I noticed TONS of girls and they were dressed SO scandalous! I was like why is there so many girls going to a bball game and WOW are they over dressed!! lol Well we wall in and the entrance is COVERED in spice girls! I was BEYOND excited!! I screamed and jumped up and down like a 5 year old girl! lol I called my girl friend and was like "OMG you will NEVER believe it!! I'm at the spice girls concert!!" Well that friend was with all my other friends and she almost BLEW my proposal because she thought that was why I was calling! She always says she is happy she kept her mouth shut! haha

Well once we were in the arena we got our seats and made fast friends with these super nice girls who came all the way from Ohio to see the concert. I guess while I wasn't paying attention, Jer told them he would be proposing and asked when he qued them if they would take pics of the engagement for us! (How sweet!)

Well these girls were seriously the SWEETEST! They kept taking pics of us ALL night long! but still I had no idea what was up! Later on Jer said he had to go to the bathroom and was gone a WHILE! When we first got there he had mentioned how awesome bathroom breaks would be because he was one of prob 3 guys at the concert lol so I thought that was odd! Turned out he had accidently left the ring in the car! Ooops! He came back with drinks and that covered his tracks!

When we got to our seats he had asked what my fav spice girls song was. I was so excited I just said "wannabe." Idk if that was really my fav but it worked out well...for me! "Wannabe" ended up being the last song of the concert and as the music started he got in front of me and said "do you know what I want?" In my head I was like "what is he doing?" So he asked me again you know what I REALLY want?" and as the confetti fell from the ceiling he got down on one knee and proposed! I was SERIOUSLY in SHOCK!! It was PERFECT!!! (AND those sweet girls DID take pics for us!) Later on I found out that he already asked my parents for permission and they were just waiting for us to call! When we got back home all my friends were waiting for me to see my BLING! :)

8. Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for v-day, or strawberries, champagne, and rose petals?

We don't celebrate Valentine's Day but when there is a special occassion I would say a mix of both...flowers and wine/champagne

9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop a movie in and relax on the couch?

I'm a little of both. If there is a special occassion I LOVE getting dressed up and wined and dined :) BUT I also LOVE comfy clothes, on the couch, watching reruns of The Office or Friends with a glass of wine with my honey :)

10. Tell us one thing you'd like to do with your significant one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere?

Before we had Olivia we took our "Real Honeymoon" (aka we spent WAY too much on our wedding and had to wait a year...but it was WORTH EVERY MINUTE OF WAITING!) to the Bahamas. We had a BLAST! We both have said we would love to go back one day with Olivia and we have always said we would love to go to Italy, Paris, etc. We def would like to see the world!

11. Tell us what you plan on doing on this Valentine's Day.

We don't celebrate Valentine's day, so Jer will prob work and I will spend time with Olivia :) We do celebrate "Megan & Jeremy Day" which is when we got engaged. We plan on Getting a babysitter, going to see "The Vow" and go out to dinner :)

12. Are you asking for anything this Valentine's day?

nope!

13. Give us advice on keeping a relationship strong and full of love.

Jer and I have had open communication since the day we met. We don't hold ANYTHING back. We both would rather get whatever out in the open right away vs holding it in. Also, NEVER EVER go to bed mad or with out saying "I love you." Lastly, now that we are parents we ALWAYS try to have at least one date night! If we can't find a baby sitter then we cook dinner together and eat together while Olivia sleeps or entertains herself. I think once becoming a parent it is important to get in that one on one, quality time!
